PNG to JPG

Image

Drop PNG images and get smaller JPGs back — converted on your device, several at a time.

Loading tool…

A PNG stores every pixel exactly, which is right for a logo or a screenshot and wasteful for a photograph: the same photo as a JPG is often a fraction of the size, and that is usually why someone needs the conversion — an upload limit, an email attachment, a form that only takes JPG. Drop the PNG files in and they come back as JPGs, with JPEG already chosen as the output.

It is the right move for photos and the wrong one for some pictures, and the tool is plain about both. JPG has no transparency: a PNG with a see-through background gets a white one, and you are told before converting. And JPG blurs hard edges slightly, so small text and line drawings in a screenshot come out softer than they went in — for those, keep the PNG, or choose WebP, which shrinks the file and keeps the edges. Quality starts at 85%; lower it for a smaller file, or set a target size and let the tool find the quality that fits.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will the JPG be?

For a photograph, usually several times smaller — PNG keeps every pixel exactly and JPG does not. For a flat graphic or a screenshot the saving is smaller and can even be nothing. The size is shown before you download, so you can see it for your own file.

What happens to a transparent background?

It becomes white, because JPG has no transparency. The tool checks your files and warns you before converting. To keep a see-through background and still get a smaller file, choose WebP as the output.

Does converting PNG to JPG lose quality?

Yes, a little: JPG throws away detail the eye mostly does not miss. On photos at the default 85% it is hard to see. On small text, icons and line drawings the edges get slightly soft — keep those as PNG.

Can I get the file under a size limit?

Yes. Switch from quality to target size, type the limit in KB or MB, and the tool finds the highest quality that fits. It never shrinks the picture's dimensions to get there; if the limit cannot be met at full size it says so.

Can I convert several PNGs at once?

Yes. Drop them together; they are converted in one go and downloaded as a zip. Free use has a cap on how many files go into one batch, and Pro removes it.

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own device, so the files never leave it.
