Compress PDF to 200 KB
PDFDrop a PDF and get it back under 200 KB — a scanned page usually keeps its text — compressed on your device.
200 KB is what many exam, visa and university portals allow for each supporting document: a degree certificate, the photo page of a passport, a signed declaration. Drop the PDF in; the limit is already set.
A single scanned page usually fits with nothing lost but resolution: measured on a 393 KB scanned page, shrinking its picture to 200 pixels per inch brought it under 200 KB in about a second, its text and links kept. A long scan is another matter, and the tool does not pretend otherwise: 25 scanned pages could not get under 200 KB even drawn at 60 pixels per inch — the smallest was 397 KB in Chrome, 550 KB in Safari — and the result says so, with what would get further. For a portal that wants one document per slot, upload the pages that matter, or split the PDF first. The file never leaves your browser.

How it works
- 1Drop the document
A scanned certificate or form, or several. They are read in your browser and never uploaded.
- 2Press Compress to 200 KB
The pictures are shrunk step by step until it fits; the pages are flattened to pictures only if that is the only way.
- 3Download
The PDF under 200 KB, with how it got there — or the smallest it could make and why, if nothing fits.
Frequently asked questions
How many scanned pages can fit in 200 KB?
Roughly a dozen at most in Chrome, fewer in Safari, and fewer if the pages are busy: a 25-page scan came to 397 KB drawn at 60 pixels per inch in Chrome (550 KB in Safari, whose encoder makes larger pictures). One or two pages fit easily, usually with their text kept.
Why does my certificate look softer after compressing?
To fit, the scan's picture is stored at fewer pixels per inch. At 200 or 150 it reads as sharp as the paper; only when the tool has to go to 100 or flatten the page does fine print soften. The result card says which step it took.
Does the portal's 200 KB mean 200,000 bytes?
Usually. The tool aims for 200,000 bytes, so a file it makes passes a portal that counts 204,800 too.
Can I compress my certificate, transcript and passport page together?
Yes. Drop them all; each PDF is brought under 200 KB on its own and you download them together.
Does my passport scan leave my computer?
No. It is compressed in your browser and saved straight to your device. Nothing is sent anywhere — which is the point, for an identity document.
