Rotate Video

Video

Drop a sideways video, turn it upright, and download it — on your device.

Loading tool…

A video filmed with the phone lying flat, or held the wrong way round, can play sideways everywhere you send it. Drop it in and press Turn Left or Right — a quarter turn at a time, twice for upside down — and the preview turns with it at once. Then press Rotate & download.

The picture itself is turned and saved as a new video, not marked with a rotation flag that some players ignore: a landscape video turned once comes out portrait, the shape it should have been, and plays the same way in every app. The sound comes with it. With several clips, each is turned on its own, so one sideways clip can be fixed among upright ones. It all happens in your browser; the video is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my video play sideways?

Phones store a video in the shape the camera sees and note which way the phone was held; players turn it by that note. If the phone could not tell — filming while it lay flat, pointing down, is the usual case — the note is wrong and the video plays sideways everywhere. Turning it here turns the picture itself.

Will it change the video's shape?

A quarter turn swaps width and height: a 1920 × 1080 video turned once is 1080 × 1920. Turned twice (upside down) it keeps its shape.

Can I also trim it?

Yes. Drag the clip's edges on the timeline, or pause where it should start and press Start here, before you save.

Does it lose quality?

The turned picture is encoded again, at 8 Mbit/s, so it is a new file rather than the original's bytes. For a phone clip the difference is hard to see.

Is the video uploaded?

No. It is turned and saved by your own browser.
