Frequently asked questions
Is the sound really gone, or just turned down?
Gone. The new file has no sound track at all — not a silent one — so there is nothing left to turn up.
Can I keep the sound of one clip and not another?
Not in one go: Remove the sound applies to the whole video. Save the clip without sound first, then join it with the others.
Does the picture lose quality?
The picture is encoded again, at 8 Mbit/s, so it is a new file rather than the original's bytes. For a phone clip the difference is hard to see.
Can I get only the sound instead?
Yes — that is the other way round: MP4 to MP3 takes the sound out of a video and leaves the picture.
Is the video uploaded?
No. It is read and saved by your own browser; neither the picture nor the sound leaves your device.
