Thread Splitter
MarketingTurn a long text into an X thread — split between sentences, each post counted the way X counts it, numbered 1/n if you like.
Thread Splitter turns a long text into a thread of X posts that each fit. It counts the way X does — most letters as one, emoji and Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters as two, and every link as 23 however long it is — using X's own published counting rules, so a post that fits here fits there. It splits between sentences and paragraphs, never inside a word, can number the posts 1/n at the start or the end, and keeps room for the numbers while it splits. A line with just --- forces a new post. With X Premium's long posts it shows about where the timeline cuts in with Show more. Your text stays on this page.

How to use Thread Splitter
- 1Paste your text
Write or paste the whole thing. It is split live, between sentences, as you type.
- 2Choose numbering
No numbers, or 1/n at the start or the end of each post — room for the numbers is kept while splitting.
- 3Copy each post
Every post shows its count as X counts it. Copy them one by one into X's composer, or all at once.
Frequently asked questions
Does it count the way X does?
Yes. It uses X's own published counting rules (twitter-text): most letters count as 1, emoji and Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters as 2, and every link as 23 however long it is, because X shortens it. They are checked against X's own test cases.
Where does it split?
Between sentences, keeping paragraphs together when they fit. A sentence longer than a whole post is split between words, never inside one. A line with just --- starts a new post wherever you want one.
Do the 1/5 numbers count towards the limit?
Yes, and room is kept for them while splitting — including when the thread reaches 10 posts and every number gains a digit.
What about X Premium's long posts?
Tick Long posts and each post may run to 25,000 characters. The timeline shows only the start of a long post before Show more; the tool marks about where that falls, at the last whole word within 280. X does not publish the exact rule.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Splitting and counting happen on this page, and the draft is kept only in this browser so a reload does not lose it.
